Itinerary
9:00 AM – Departure from Bishkek Begin your journey from Bishkek, heading east toward Burana Tower. Your guide will provide an overview of the day’s activities and share interesting facts about the region. 10:00 AM – Visit Burana Tower Arrive at the historic Burana Tower, an ancient minaret and UNESCO World Heritage Site. Explore the tower and the surrounding archaeological complex, which includes a small museum and stone petroglyphs (balbals). Learn about the history of the Silk Road and the ancient city of Balasagun. 11:00 AM – Continue to Orto-Tokoy Reservoir Depart from Burana Tower and head towards Orto-Tokoy Reservoir, enjoying the scenic drive through the Chuy Valley. 1:00 PM – Arrival at Orto-Tokoy Reservoir Stop at Orto-Tokoy Reservoir for a break. Take in the beautiful views of the turquoise waters and surrounding mountains. Enjoy a packed lunch or snacks while appreciating the serene environment. 1:30 PM – Continue to Son Kul Lake Resume your journey towards Son Kul Lake, passing through stunning landscapes, including high mountain passes and lush meadows. 4:30 PM – Arrival at Son Kul Lake Arrive at Son Kul Lake and check in at Baiysh Yurt Camp, a comfortable and traditional yurt camp with internet access. Settle into your yurt and enjoy the breathtaking views of the lake and mountains. 5:00 PM – Free Time and Exploration Spend the afternoon exploring the area around the lake. Walk along the lakeshore, relax at the yurt camp, or participate in optional activities such as fishing or visiting nearby nomadic families. 6:30 PM – Dinner at Baiysh Yurt Camp Enjoy a delicious dinner prepared by your hosts, featuring local Kyrgyz cuisine. Try dishes like beshbarmak (noodles with meat) and kymyz (fermented mare’s milk). 8:00 PM – Bonfire and Cultural Evening Gather around a bonfire and enjoy a cultural evening with traditional Kyrgyz music and storytelling. Learn about the customs and traditions of the nomadic Kyrgyz people. Overnight at Baiysh Yurt Camp Experience the unique and cozy atmosphere of sleeping in a traditional Kyrgyz yurt.

The peaceful morning atmosphere and the breathtaking views make for a perfect start to the day. 8:00 AM – Breakfast at Baiysh Yurt Camp Enjoy a hearty breakfast with fresh bread, dairy products, and other local dishes. 9:00 AM – Horseback Riding around Son Kul Lake Set out on a horseback riding adventure around Son Kul Lake. Ride through the vast meadows, enjoying the fresh air and panoramic views of the lake and mountains. This activity offers a great opportunity to experience the traditional Kyrgyz way of life and connect with nature. 11:30 AM – Depart from Son Kul Lake Begin the journey back to Bishkek, with a stop in Kochkor along the way. 1:30 PM – Arrival in Kochkor and Lunch Arrive in Kochkor, a vibrant village known for its crafts and local culture. Stop for lunch at a local restaurant or guesthouse, where you can enjoy dishes like laghman (noodle dish) and plov (rice pilaf). 2:30 PM – Visit a Felt Workshop in Kochkor Visit a local felt workshop to see how traditional Kyrgyz felt products are made. You can purchase souvenirs and learn about the craft from local artisans. 3:30 PM – Continue to Bishkek Depart from Kochkor and continue the journey to Bishkek, enjoying the scenic drive through the mountains and valleys. 6:00 PM – Arrival in Bishkek Arrive in Bishkek, marking the end of your two-day adventure to Son Kul Lake.
